NMB Lady Chiefs soccer —

It was a rough week for the NMB Lady Chiefs. Last Tuesday the Chiefs traveled to Socastee for a 6AAAAA rematch with the Braves, a team the Chiefs beat 5-1 on March 20th. The Lady Braves wanted a little revenge, and I guess got it with a 2-1 win over the Chiefs.

The match was 0-0 at the end of the first half but Socastee scored an early second half goal to take the 1-0 lead. Eden Stevenson tied the score at 1-1 with a goal and assist from Macy Lockard a short time later but the Braves got the winning goal late in the second half for the 2-1 score.

Clara Cloninger did what she could as goalkeeper for the Chiefs, stopping 12 shots.

Two days later the Chiefs had to go south again with their second match with Carolina Forest last Thursday. The Chiefs lost their first game with the Lady Panthers 2-0 on March 24th. This time the Panthers scored five goals in the first half to lead 5-0 at the break.

While the Chiefs stopped the goal scoring of the Panthers in the second half, they were unable to score a goal and walked off with a 6-0 loss. Cloninger had 14 saves in the match.

The Lady Chiefs were home on Tuesday to meet the St. James Lady Sharks. They finish their region schedule on April 28th with a visit to Myrtle Beach. They also play Loris on April 29th at The Hank.
