This Easter season, civic organizations across the North Myrtle Beach and Little River area came together in a powerful display of unity, compassion and service proving once again that when a need arises, this community answers the call.
When it was shared that Easter baskets were needed for children at the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina in Lake Waccamaw (about 50 minutes away), local civic clubs quickly mobilized. The Kiwanis Club of North Myrtle Beach and Little River, Lions Club of North Myrtle Beach, North Strand Optimist Club, and the Rotary Club of Little River joined forces with one shared goal: to ensure every child felt remembered, celebrated and supported no matter where they are.
Together, the clubs assembled 50 Easter baskets filled with candy, games and thoughtful surprises. Adding an extra layer of joy, local nonprofit K12 Outfitters, led by Terry Cicero, generously donated stuffed animals for each child bringing comfort, smiles and a sense of belonging.
The Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina serves children navigating difficult circumstances, including foster care transitions and family instability. Through its family-style cottage system and nurturing campus environment, the organization provides stability, guidance and hope for a brighter future.
This effort reflects the heart of civic collaboration—organizations joining forces to share resources and compassion, creating a ripple of impact that reaches far beyond their own backyard.
Easter is a season of renewal, hope and new beginnings. Through this collective act of kindness, these civic organizations didn’t just deliver baskets. They delivered that very message.
In the end, this was more than an Easter project. It was a reflection of a community united in purpose, driven by heart and committed to making sure every child knows they are seen, valued, and cared about.
Happy Easter to all!
