Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers attend wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 1,600 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.  During this week hundreds of wreaths were delivered to North Myrtle Beach by David and Michelle West from Kansas. David, a veteran himself, was chosen by E.W. The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board selected an oak tree located at the entrance to The Oaks at Windy Hill as its Tree of the Month for December. Mike and Carolyn Price moved into The Oaks at Windy Hill three and a half years ago. When they purchased their home, they inherited the role of caretaker of a beautiful oak tree at the entrance to their neighborhood. The tree is between 150 and 175 years old. During January a special table with vinyl records, comic books, vintage magazines, sheet music and odd, unique, “one of a kind” items for sale is offered. Also, standard size paperbacks are five at $1. The Friends of the Library at the North Myrtle Beach Library make available a continuous book sale in its shop within the library with ever changing offerings. The congregation of St. Stephens Episcopal Church of North Myrtle Beach celebrated their 50th anniversary with a banquet held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Dec. 20, 2019. State Senator Greg Hembree, Hank Thomas, North Myrtle Beach City Council Member, Jim Mezick, Retired Pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church, and several other dignitaries offered congratulatory remarks. On Aug. 31, 1969, the Episcopal Church started a summer chapel in what is now North Myrtle Beach. By 1985, that chapel had grown to the point of becoming a full-fl edged parish in The Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, which …

The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club presented a check to the McLeod Health Foundation for $500 from monies raised by multiple community fundraisers and events. The donation will directly benefit patients being treated at McLeod Health Loris in Loris and McLeod Health Seacoast in Little River through specialized programs and services. The North Myrtle Beach Republican Club will start the year off with Clark Parker, a candidate for Horry County Auditor, as their speaker. Parker is a CPA and has served on many committees. He is a graduate of Aynor High School and got his BS from Coastal Carolina College. He has served on too many committees to mention. The Loris Santa, Johnny Lee, has had a busy season from Thanksgiving Day until Sunday, Dec. 22. He visited with many children telling him their wishes for toys to be delivered to their home on Christmas Eve. Age does not matter. With his big generous heart he listens to anyone who is able to speak, gives a kind word or a prayer and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas. The Horry County Farm Bureau and local Farm Bureau Insurance agents in Loris are bringing a little more joy to this holiday season by helping those in the community facing hardship. The Loris office presented a $1,000 check to assist a woman who was unable to stay in her home and whose fiancée is now dealing with serious medical issues. The donation is part of a company sponsored holiday community outreach program called Farm Bureau Cares. Max is a long haired dachshund terrier mix that escaped the back gate of his home in Loris on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019. The Rudelitch family searched for their fur baby and companion for days, for weeks and months with no sign of Max anywhere in the area. Fliers with a picture of Max were placed in local business windows and on bulletin boards, Kimberly drove through the neighborhood placing fliers on doorsteps hoping to receive a response to her plea to bring Max home.
