Jessie Louise Kalimon, 97, of Little River passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at Brunswick Health & Rehab. in Calabash, N.C. Born on April 7, 1922, in Proctorville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry McKinley and Nella Massie Singer. She was predeceased by her husband, Metro Kalimon. Mrs. Kalimon is survived by her children, Glenn Kalimon, Ronald Kalimon, John Kalimon, Kathryn Check and Joyce Steinberg; two sisters, Ida Connor and Carol Marcum; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Morgan was born on Aug. 18, 1943, in Columbia to the late Harley Robert Morgan and the late Gladys Merdine Wilkerson Morgan. Arnette  A. Hill, 75, of Whiteville, N.C., passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice House. Born on Nov. 29, 1943, in New London, Conn., she was the daughter of  James D.  and Elise Dart Beck. Mrs. Hill  was sweet, very quiet, shy, generous and never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was very important to her. She helped raise her grandchildren and loved to shop, even if it was just window shopping. Eleven graduates from North Myrtle Beach High School gathered for a special reunion on Aug. 24, 2019. The occasion was to celebrate the seven 1971 North Myrtle Beach High School graduates and their daughters, who graduated together in 1991. “When I was in high school, I recognized that the mothers of two of my classmates graduated with my mother,” said Teowonna Clifton, organizer of the gathering. “I thought that was a wonderful coincidence that bonded us.” Years later, Clifton decided to host a luncheon to bring together the mothers who were classmates and their daughters who were also classmates. “But …

The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board selected a Turkey Oak located at Rountree Printing at 2404 Madison Drive as its Tree of the Month for September. In 1971, prior to buying the beach house and starting Rountree Printing, Steve Rountree moved into the house as a rental tenant. B.R. Hunt, the original owner, told Steve the tree was already there when the house was built shortly after Hurricane Hazel. The tree is 80-90 years old.
