The Loris Chamber of Commerce held its annual Talent Showcase at the Loris High School auditorium beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. Hydrology study of the water, sewer lines in the city has been completed

In the city council article of the Monday, Feb. 4, meeting, Brandon Harrelson reported to council that the hydrology study has been completed. He stated that he will email each council member with the results of the study and schedule to meet to discuss what direction they will be taking. The Earthworks Planning and Design Consultants in Murrells Inlet were hired to study the city’s water system to help with the drainage and run-off water for the city to make improvements. New food truck offers home cooking

Food trucks have gained popularity in the last few years and Loris has a new vendor providing good old home cooking for residents. Frank’s Food on Wheels, owned and operated by Frank Bellamy, has been operating his food truck for six months in Loris. Bellamy, who is a resident of Loris, retired from a long time career. He thought it would benefit him to keep busy and residents of the area to get some good food on the go. Loris City Police respond quickly to bank robbery

The Loris Police Department was dispatched to the BB&T Bank branch on Broad Street in the city on Thursday, Feb. 14, at approximately 1:30 p.m. The report states a light skinned black woman entered the bank telling the employees that she had a gun and demanded money. The employees never saw a weapon, but followed the instructions as the suspect took an undetermined amount of money and fled the bank on foot. When the Loris Police officers, including Chief Gary Buley, arrived within minutes of the robbery, they were able to swiftly shut down a perimeter. The roadways surrounding the …

Helping save Ingram Dunes

The North Myrtle Beach Historical Preservation Society enjoyed a fun day at the 6th Annual Surfrider Oyster Roast and Bloody Mary Contest. The North Myrtle Beach Historical Preservation Society attended and gave away nesting houses, bird feeders and seed bombs for donations. The efforts were to continue to support the saving of Ingram Dunes. The preservation of this historic piece of land is the first major project for the group. The NMB Tree City Board presents February Award

The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board has selected an oak tree located at Trinity United Methodist Church, at 706 14th Avenue South as its Tree of the Month for February. Those familiar with the tree’s history say it was planted in 1976 in memory of Jim Taibi, who passed away on June 2, 1976. Pastor Reverend William Williams, now a Methodist Bishop, presided over the ceremony and North Myrtle Beach gardener Jane McDaniel supervised the planting.
