A recreation center on wheels that offers a variety of organized activities to promote outdoor play at local parks. This mobile recreation program will establish new locations to play and enhance current play opportunities throughout the community. South Carolina deer hunters should start seeing deer tags for the 2019 season in their mailboxes soon, and there are significant changes to the antlerless tagging system that all hunters need to be aware of before taking to the field. New for this year are improvements to the Antlerless Deer Tag program. A new law was passed by the General Assembly, resulting in the elimination of the eight date specific anterless tags, replacing them with two anterless tags that may be used on any day beginning Sept. 15 in Game Zones 2, 3 and 4 and Oct. 1 in Game …

The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center will hold their 5th annual members and guests golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Possum Trot Golf Course with proceeds going to Teen Angels. Teen Angels is a local outreach organization that supports homeless teens and teens in need at North Myrtle Beach High School by providing school books, yearbooks, prom attire, transportation to doctors or dentists and other things to help keep these teens in school. The format for the tournament is four-person captain’s choice. The cost is $65 per player or $260 per team. The tournament will get underway …

Three North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department all-star teams continued play this week in the Dixie Youth Baseball Championship tournaments being held around the state. The 10 and under all-stars, who were seeded 11th in the 12-team event, started play last weekend with a 7-4 win over the sixth seeded team from Orangeburg. North Myrtle Beach then took on the 5th seeded Hartsville team, and lost by a 2-0 score. Virginia Pauline Ambrose, 92, of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach. Born on March 17, 1927, in Washington County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Maude Blevins Roe. Mrs. Ambrose is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill” Ambrose Jr.; son, James Haga; daughter, Patsy Decker; four stepchildren, Wiliam B. Ambrose III, Jeffrey D. Ambrose, Rebecca L. Thomas Olen Norwood, 86, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Loris McLeod Hospital in Loris. Ruth Wood, 81, of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Embrace Hospice surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Pennsylvania on May 5, 1938, to the late Arthur and Millie Huntzinger.  She grew up in Oneida, N.Y., and graduated from Oneida High School in the class of 1957. Richard Thompson “Dickie” Morris, 74, of Longs passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at his home in Longs. Richard E. “Dick” Bell, 83, of Little River died on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born on Jan. 28, 1936, in Conway, he was the son of the late R.E. and Ruby Reeves Bell.
