The Loris Women’s Coalition held their third annual Salute to Loris American Heroes, a Veterans Day tribute. Veda Nichols, director and coordinator, along with the lady members of the coalition spent Saturday morning, Nov 10, at 10 a.m. honoring the Loris veterans. Felipe “Toby” Mendoza was enjoying a warm day of outdoor fun with his sister and his friends on Sunday, Oct. 21, when Rocky, the neighbor’s pit bull, attacked him. Toby shared his experience at first referring to the dog by its name, Rocky, when describing how they have played in the past, but once he began describing the events after the first bite, he referred to it as “the dog”. On Monday, Nov. 12, Little River American Legion Post 186 and North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 paid tribute to military veterans at the Veterans Memorial at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The event was attended by about 150 current and former military members and guests. Master of ceremonies was James Cirulli, Post 186 Commander. The Great Christmas Light Show returns to the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex on Nov. 23. This park-wide lighted celebration captures the true spirit of the season with over two million lights festively displayed along a 1.5 mile drive throughout the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. Over 400 magical light displays, some up to 70 feet long, have been custom made for The Great Christmas Light Show. The North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum announces a new themed exhibit for the holidays, A Festive Forest. Local residents Rob and Donita Kayton have graciously donated their collection of hand carved wooden Santas and their collection of handmade baskets for use in the exhibit. Several community groups will be decorating trees for the exhibit. The museum will hold a fundraiser by selling tickets for a variety of items that have been donated by volunteers.
