Winter Parker is a 2017 graduate of Loris High School who began studying at Coastal Carolina College majoring in Athletic Training with a double major in Psychology. All things were looking up for this 19 year old with ambitions and dreams. The dreams remain, however, delayed because of one fateful night in late April of this year when she and her boyfriend, Charles “Bo” Durant II, heard gunfire as they headed back to Bo’s parents home for dinner. The evergreen glow with twinkling lights with gifts wrapped and set underneath. Children race to see what good old Saint Nicholas has brought them on Christmas Day. This year there were no sad faces on Christmas morning due to the hard work of three generous souls and their volunteers. Johnny Lee, the Santa at the house on the corner, worked diligently gathering gifts for Toys for Tots. Donald E. Wright, 79, of Little River died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born on Oct. 21, 1939, in Columbus County, N.C., to George W. and Margaret Ward Wright. Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by three daughters, Teresa West (Bill), Donna Spencer and Tina Wright; brother, Roger Wright (Shelby); and sister, Shirley Hilburn; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Paul E. Weber, 93, of North Myrtle Beach died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Paul S. and Virginia Moore Weber. He was married to the late Ann Cornell Weber for 45 years. Mr. Weber served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. Howard “Suitcase” Ray, 72, of Loris passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach with his wife by his side. Howard was born in Loris, a son of the late David James Ray and Myrtis Stevens. He was predeceased by one sister, Pearl Tyler. “Suitcase” was a barber for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Patsy of Conway; sisters Carolyn Shelley of Mullins and Faye Alford (Paul) of Aynor; and his dog Oscar. Lottie Bell Bellamy entered the presence of the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. Lottie was born on April 7, 1931, in Conway, the daughter of the late Sollie and Nellie Jordan. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph “Junior” Bellamy. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers; Lee Jordan, Devon Jordan, Henry Jordan, Perlie Jordan and her sister, Inez Powell. Joe Duffe Graham, 64, of Loris passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at his home following an illness. Mr. Graham was born on June 27, 1954, in Loris to Vernon Blake Graham and Mary Elease Cox Graham. He worked with Graham Brothers Farm Supplies in Loris for over thirty years and as a SHEP program supervisor with the SCDOT for over 14 years. The Bethesda House for single mothers began only as a vision by local pastor, the Rev. Earl J Spivey Jr. He said he felt God led him to help single mothers and expectant mothers in the area. He followed the calling and retired as a pastor in 2014 after more than 20 years at the pulpit. He described the Bethesda House as a home for single mothers and parental disciple-makers, part of his Great Commission Christian Ministries.
