Volleyball team opens season 6-0

The North Myrtle Beach High School girls volleyball team won their opening tournament last week at the school. The Lady Chiefs won by a 5-0 score.

The North Myrtle Beach High School girls volleyball team opened their 25-26 season last week with a 3-0 {25-12, 25-11-25-18) home win last Wednesday. The Lady Chiefs then won five straight matches in their Battle of the Beach Tournament for the championship.

The Chiefs won their first match on Friday, beating Ashley Ridge 2-0 (25-19, 25-14). The Chiefs then beat Hoggard 25-13, 18-25, 25-13. Next, the Chiefs beat Musselman 2-0, (25-20, 25-11.)

Then the Chiefs battled to a 2-0 win over Lexington, 25-23, 26-24. setting up a championship match with Hoggard Saturday afternoon. The Chiefs won a close match by a 2-1 score, (23-25, 25-23, 15-9.)

The Chiefs won the state championship last year and it looks like they will be in the competition again this year. Clara Clonunger was voted the MVP of the tournament and Lilly Loeswick was voted to the All-Tournament team.
