Photo by James Pease II On Thursday, December 11, the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department responded to a call in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach for a house fire. Due to swift action, there were no injuries and the house fire was extinguished.

Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, C-Battalion units responded to a reported structure fire in the 600 Block of 21st Avenue North in the Cherry Grove section.

Engine 2 arrived and found thick black smoke banking down in the living space of a raised beach house.

An interior fire attack was initiated that was coordinated with vertical ventilation from the truck crew and primary search by rescue crew.

Crews were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire before it could extend further.

No injuries were reported and crews continued salvage and overhaul operations until clearing the scene a little after 2:30 p.m.

It was great work by the personnel on the scene for bringing this incident under control quickly.

The units on the scene were Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 1, Truck 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 2, Car 3, Car 8, Car 12, North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad and the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
