Club offers boat safety course exam

America’s Boating Club North Strand will host the nationally recognized ABC Safe Boating Course on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Tidewater Plantation Amenities Center’s large meeting room located at 1601 Spinnaker Road in North Myrtle Beach.

This comprehensive, full day course is designed for new boaters, experienced boaters and anyone considering boating.

Participants will learn essential boating knowledge, including: types of boats and choosing the right one; boating laws and regulations; required safety equipment; safe boating practices; basic navigation; handling common boating problems; trailering, storage and boat protection; and considerations for hunting, fishing, water-skiing and river boating.

While the course instruction is offered free of charge, there is a $40 fee to cover materials, the exam and administrative costs. Additional participants sharing a book will be charged $10 each for exam and recording fees. Payment by cash or check is requested.

Participants may pre-register online at www.usps.org/cgi-bin-nat/eddept/800/getregformx.cgi?C-22245.

The class will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a course review and a closed-book exam beginning around 4:30 p.m. Most students finish by 5 or 5:30 p.m., with exams graded upon submission. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bag lunch due to limited nearby dining options.

Upon successful completion, students will receive an SCDNR Boater Education Card issued by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. The course is NASBLA-approved and recognized by the United States Coast Guard, making it valid in most states.
