As part of its ongoing response to the COVID-19 coronavirus threat, Tidelands Health is issuing an urgent appeal to community residents who can sew. The health system has several thousand new, never-used N95 respirators in its warehouse. The respirators were acquired during a previous public health emergency but never used. While the N95 respirators themselves are in new condition, the elastic straps have become brittle over time. However, all city employees report to work as usual and all city services continue according to their regular schedules. Loris Elementary School posted the information on the sign in front of the school to let everyone know that all South Carolina schools are closed until further notice. On Tuesday South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Superintendant of Education Molly Spearman announced that the closure of all South Carolina schools will be extended until at least April 30.

The Loris IGA parking lot was almost empty on Tuesday evening. Lots of stores and businesses in Loris are serving a lot less customers and many are shortening their hours because of the fears of the coronavirus which has emptied many of the shelves of certain items.

The Loris Recreation Sports Complex is also following the order; they have postponed practice for softball and baseball.
