A special election to select a successor to the late Mayor Henry L. Nichols will be held on Tuesday, May 28, to fill the term of mayor until December 31, 2019. Four residents have filed with the city to be placed on the ballot for the May special election. They are: Joan Gause, council member; Todd Harrelson, council member and mayor pro tem; Michael E. A town hall style meeting was hosted by the Loris Chamber of Commerce, Jack Murphy, the Loris Recreation Center and a city official to discuss with business owners and the public the future for Loris. Twenty-two students at Loris Middle School participated in the school’s Technology Fair held on Thursday, March 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The students select a category they want to create from a list provided by Amber LaSalle, the school’s media specialist. The projects at the fair included robotics, digital photography, animation, mobile app creation and video editing.
