Under the guidance of God and sunlight and beautiful blue skies North Myrtle Beach has to offer, 45 students of faith from colleges and universities across the country gathered together for one month this summer, laying down their plans with one goal in mind – to advance the kingdom of God.

Alicia Davenport, an English teacher at North Myrtle Beach High School, was honored as the 2022 Horry County Schools’ Rookie Teacher of the Year earlier this month.

North Myrtle Beach’s middle and high school band directors, Dan Vigo and Peter DiLeo, were honored last week with Long Bay Symphony’s prestigious Music Teacher of the Year awards.

The North Myrtle Beach community paid its final respects to Sgt. Best last week as the young officer was laid to rest following a police processional and funeral fitting for the real-life hero that he was to so many people.

The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau recently announced they would be changing their name to “Destination NMB” in an attempt to modernize and streamline it for visitors and residents of the area.

Students in Horry County Schools actively enrolled in the brick-and-mortar learning plan will have until next Tuesday, Dec. 22, to change to virtual learning for the second semester of this school year.

By John Smithson The #2 North Myrtle Beach Chiefs football team won the Lower State championship last Friday by beating rival Myrtle Beach 37-10 at the Hank Hester Sports Complex. The Chiefs remained undefeated with their ninth win and set up a championship game at Benedict College Saturday at 7:30 pm against upper state winner and top-ranked A.C. Flora. The Chiefs won their first-ever lower state championship and now have their first shot at a AAAA state title.
