The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity wrestlers were hoping for another home win last Wednesday evening, but the Seahawks built a big lead, and the Chiefs comeback fell one individual win short and a 36-39 region loss.
The Chiefs got off to a good start with Levi Wheeler’s pin giving the Chiefs a 12-5 lead. The Seahawks responded with a pin, two technical fall decisions, a Chiefs forfeit and another Seahawks pin and Myrtle Beach led 33-12.
The Chiefs got a pin in their next match but needed to win out to get a victory. Myrtle Beach followed with a pin and 39-18 score. The Chiefs then got two pins and a forfeit in the final match but lost 36-39.
The Chiefs faced Carolina Forest on Wednesday at the North Myrtle Beach gym.
