The North Myrtle Beach Times has been named as the July 2019 Legacy Business of the Month by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce CVB. The newspaper was founded in 1971 by its publisher, Polly Lowman, who still runs the paper today. Prior to the July 15 North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, Council members met in executive session for legal briefings regarding the Parkway Planned Development Agreement and City Code Section 5-27-150 pertaining to opening, closing or altering streets. Council took no action. During the Council meeting, City Council approved a motion to appoint North Myrtle Beach resident Jeanette Lyon to the North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board. A public hearing to adopt the fiscal year 2019-20 budget through ordinance number 05-19 was held on Thursday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. Present at the meeting were Mayor Todd Harrelson and council members, Joan Gause, Lewis Hardee, Mike Suggs and Jan Vescovi; Terrence Hardee was absent.  Department heads present were Brandon Harrelson, Loris Police Chief Gary Buley, attorney Kenneth Moss and city clerk Kenya Wright.
