Driftwood Garden Club members participate in events

A good turn-out was had by the Driftwood Garden Club on Saturday, September 20, to participate in the Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful Beach Sweep at McLean Park. The crew cleaned out over 60 pounds of “stuff” and almost 500 cigarette butts. Please remember that the park is not an ashtray.

The Driftwood Garden Club has had a busy September.

Members Babs Johnston, Trudy Sobolka and Linda Sweatt participated in the Plant Swap “Bring a Plant, Take a Plant“ event at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center Outdoor Courtyard. They shared plants and gardening tips with other local garden clubs and attendees at the event.

South Carolina Master Gardeners gave a short presentation at the start of the event about Planting for Pollinators, with tips on plants that benefit the environment and our pollinator friends, the bees and butterflies.

On Saturday, September 20, members Jeannette Bell, Jill Roman, Anne Elliott and Babs Johnston and family members joined in the annual Beach Sweep Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful event. They were stationed in and around McLean Park. The group collected 60 pounds of trash including hundreds of cigarette butts, plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, clothing and a bicycle.
