On Wednesday, May 27, the Rotary Club of Little River hosted thirteen North Myrtle Beach High School students, who each received a $1,000 scholarship, as well as their respective parents and family members and Elizabeth Brown, who is a NMBHS guidance counselor.
The scholarship recipients were Sierra Bendik, Matthew Carter, Calleigh Estep, Sebastian Frio, Jaliyah Green, Collins Lane, Michael Lowry, Sara Mai, Lani Mishoe, Carlie Stanley, Acacia Stephenson, Cole Woody and Nevaeh Zaciewski.
This was in addition to the $1,000 scholarship awarded to the Grand Strand Running Club student.
Scholarships are funded through the club’s fundraisers (5K race and Spirits of Giving event), private donors (B&D Gregory Family) and the club’s Teen Angels fund.
Four named scholarships were awarded to recognize the club’s three Charter Members, who are Craig Hill, Mary Martin and D.G. Schumacher, as well as Donna Levinski, the Club’s Youth Services Chair.
As part of the program, each student shared their plans for the future, including the schools they will be attending in the fall and areas of study they are pursuing.
Special recognition was also given to Elizabeth Brown and the other guidance counselors who help with this program.
May is Rotary’s Youth Services month so this luncheon supports Rotary International’s theme for the month.
