Boys, girls track teams finish a close second in Allen Connie Relays

Aryana Henry completes one of her attempts in the pole vault competition for the Lady Chiefs track and field team at Saturday’s Allen Connie Relays at North Myrtle Beach. The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls track teams competed against five other local high schools last Saturday in the Allen Connie Relays and both teams finished second to strong Carolina Forest teams. In the boys track and field events Carolina Forest finished with 138 points for first place. North Myrtle Beach was second with 96 points. Lacrosse coach Rosa is determined to move Chiefs program into the winning territory

Head boys lacrosse coach Dan Rosa stands in front of his varsity boys and girls teams and JV players as well as his two boys assistants and girls coach. Rosa has over 55 players committed to the lacrosse program, which is in its fourth year with three under Rosa. Dan Rosa is a retired firefighter from New Jersey who has made lacrosse a major part of his life and now wants to make the lacrosse program an integral part of the North Myrtle Beach High School sports. NMB Chiefs baseball team begins region play this week

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity baseball team begins region play this week with two games. The Chiefs travelled to Marlboro County on Tuesday for their region opener and then have their first home game scheduled for this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at home against Wilson High School. The Chiefs had a week of practice last week following three games played at the Shipyard Tournament in Charleston Feb. 28 and 29. The Chiefs opened play against Wando High School. The North Myrtle Beach High School wrestling team donates their time and muscles to help at the Little River festivals by assisting the vendors unload and set up their booths, delivering ice and soda, helping the staff set up chairs, tables and equipment and anything they need. St. Patrick’s Day parade and festival Saturday

Decorated golf carts have always been a big part of the North Myrtle Beach Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The 32nd Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival will be on Saturday, March 14, on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The one-day rain or shine event attracts more than 40,000 people annually. The North Strand Optimist Club organizes the parade and all entry fees go to help the youth of the community. The festival offers over 150 food, arts and …

Prior to the March 2 City Council meeting, Council met in a 6:15 p.m. executive session to receive a legal briefing concerning the lawsuit between the City of Myrtle Beach and Horry County regarding local accommodations and hospitality taxes. Free family-friendly event is March 20

The North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation Department announces its next Pedal in the Park with a Superhero theme. Bring your bicycles out to the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex on Friday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. for a leisurely three mile starlit bike ride. The ride starts at sunset (approximately 7:15 p.m.) and will begin and end at the amphitheater. There will also be a one mile junior course. This is not a race, so you can bike at your own pace.
