The 2019 SHIVER FOR THE SHELTER Golf Tournament, presented by Slimbo Events and PrintGraphix, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Arcadian Shores Golf Club in Myrtle Beach. The purpose of the tournament is to benefit the animals housed at The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. Richard C. “Dickie” Talbert, Jr., 71, of N. Myrtle Beach, following a brief illness, passed away peacefully surrounded with love on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at MUSC in Charleston. Dickie was born on Nov. 14, 1947, in Albemarle, N.C., and was the son of the late Richard C. Talbert and the late Margaret Rose Wilhoit Talbert. Monty Simpson, 75, of North Myrtle Beach, formerly of Trinity, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019. Joyce Somerset, 87, of North Myrtle Beach, died on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at her home. Born on Feb. 12, 1932, in Lincolnton, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Hillard and Virginia (Kale) Saine. She is survived by her daughter, Billie Martin of North Myrtle Beach, and two grand dogs, Grayson and Piper. Joyce retired from AT&T after 35 years of service with perfect attendance. Bettie Gail Stevens Altman of Loris passed to her heavenly home on  Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. The McLeod Health Foundation benefiting McLeod Loris Seacoast raised over $50,000 at the McLeod Health Cancer Benefit Golf Classic presented by MagMutual. This two day golf event was held on Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf in North Myrtle Beach. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the cancer patients at McLeod Seacoast through the HOPE Fund (Helping Oncology Patients Everyday).
