Schroll enters Lions Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to PDG Marion Schroll, a member of the Little River Lions Club. He has been nominated and duly elected to the South Carolina Hall of Fame.  His name has been entered into the permanent book of the Hall of Fame which will be kept forever in the archives at the Lions Building in Columbia. A plaque was presented to him by Past District Governor Randy Edwards.

Enjoy two free concerts this week

The city of North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation is excited to kick off their annual Summer Concert Series events.  The popular events, Music On Main and Sounds of Summer, begin this week.  Each concert is scheduled from 7 until 9 p.m. and is free to the public and features a variety of bands. Music on Main kicks off on Thursday, May 16 featuring Envision from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Horseshoe in North Myrtle Beach.  Concert-goers can expect an incredible variety of Motown and beach hits. Edmund “Ed” Vaitis of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at his home. Ed Vaitas was a man that is well known and loved in the North Myrtle Beach community and surrounding areas for his many charitable services. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines in 1957 through 1967 then he became a Veservist. In 1971 he and his wife Joan relocated to North Myrtle Beach. They continued their services at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church by initiating the Lenten Fish fry. They never stopped serving. Ed became a fourth-degree Sir …

Closing to Occur by June 21 on Dunes

On May 2, the city of North Myrtle Beach and Hillside Development, LLC signed a contract for the purchase and sale of 7.24 acres of the 9.35-acre site popularly known as Ingram Dunes. The purchase price is $2.5 million, based on an appraisal ordered by the landowner. The family of Charles Ingram will contribute $1.4 million to the purchase and the city of North Myrtle Beach, using its $500,000 contribution, a $500,000 grant from the S.C. Conservation Bank and donations from members of the public, will pay the remaining $1.1 million. A closing on the property will occur on or …

Party 2000 was produced by MiDog, Inc., and Water Dog Promotions featuring such greats as Bill Pickney & the Original Drifters, Billy Scott & The Prophets, Miss Janice Barnett, Clifford Curry & The Sugarbees, The Flamingos, The Del Vikings, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, The Tams, Barbara Lewis, Shirley Alston Reeves & The Shirelles, The Showmen, Subway and the Marvelettes. Legislative Update Week 18

Overview The House gaveled to a close this week after dozens of bills and the Sine Die Resolution passed both the House and Senate. This was the first year of a two-year session that focused primarily on transformative education reform, presenting a balanced and efficient budget, solutions for Santee Cooper, and the pro-life ‘Heartbeat’ legislation. Although regular session has ended, we will continue to work over the next few weeks in conference committees. Peter Joseph Quintano

Peter Joseph Quintano, 99, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital. He was born on Nov. 3, 1919, in Bari, Italy, to the late John Joseph Quintano and the late Pauline Carnocchio Quintano. Mr. Quintano served his country with courage, honor and dignity in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he worked as a master butcher in New Jersey where he owned and operated his own butcher shop. He loved the Yankees and the New York Giants, but had a passion for basketball and volunteered as a youth coach for many …
