North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team beat rivals Myrtle Beach and Loris Tuesday and Wednesday

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team beat Myrtle Beach 4-2 on Tuesday evening and then won a thriller against Loris by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 9-8 non-conference win. The Chiefs scored single runs in the second, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to build a 4-0 lead, then held off a late bid by the Seahawks in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-2 conference victory. House Passes Education Reform Bill by Vote of 113-4

Presidential Hopeful Kamala Harris Visits the Grand Strand

Democratic Presidential candidate and current United States Senator Kamala Harris visited the Grand Strand Friday afternoon in a visit to Big Mike’s Soul Food. Harris addressed around 300 attendees at a meet and greet that was organized by the Horry County Democratic Party. She spoke briefly on her progressive platform that includes positions on Medicare-for-all and the legalization of marijuana. City clarifies actions pertaining to license

The city of North Myrtle Beach continues to receive complaints regarding Keye Beach Rentals and its owner, Walter Pigg. This is to clarify that Walter Pigg is no longer licensed to operate Keye Beach Rentals in the city of North Myrtle Beach. On February 22, 2019, through his attorney, Walter Pigg voluntarily surrendered his business license to the city. This preceded a March 1 business license revocation hearing scheduled by the North Myrtle Beach City Council. Because Walter Pigg surrendered his business license to the city prior to the March 1 revocation hearing, the revocation hearing was cancelled. The cancellation …

Citizens Academy graduates receive completion certificates

During the March 4 City Council meeting, City Council recognized and presented certificates of completion to North Myrtle Beach residents who graduated from the 2019 North Myrtle Beach Citizens Academy. Academy participants learned about work performed by city departments, their projects and some of the challenges they face. They also toured key city facilities. The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce CVB is announcing R.W. Wood’s General Store as the March 2019 Business of the Month. R.W. Wood began his business in 1956 and they have been at their present location at Nixon’s Crossroads since 1960. The General Store originally sold almost everything anyone could need. From groceries to hardware, they had it. In 2001, the addition of a grill was added and R.W.’s son, Richard, became the operator of the breakfast and lunch counter. Although we lost R.W.
