Girls softball beats rival team on senior night

By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs softball team celebrated their senior night last Monday at The Hank with a 10-0 win over Myrtle Beach in their final region game of the spring. The Chiefs had one last game on the schedule at Loris last Friday and lost 13-3 to the Lady Lions. After the Chiefs seniors were celebrated prior to Monday’s game, the Chiefs batters scored 10 runs on eleven hits while senior pitcher Sierra Bendik threw a two-hit shutout in the five-inning game. Lacrosse loses to Sharks

By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs battled all season long, earned a place in the SCHSL playoffs with their first win ever against Socastee but then lost 17-14 to the Lady Sharks last Tuesday night at St. James. The Chiefs split their season series with the Lady Sharks, winning their first game 11-9 before losing 16-8 on April 13th. This time they played hard but were outshot by the Sharks and lost enough draws to make a difference in possession chances. Boys lacrosse knocked out of playoffs during second round

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs boys lacrosse team made it to the first round of the SCHSL playoffs, beat Socastee 7-6 last Monday at The Hank, but lost to Lucy Beckham 19-2 in Mt. Pleasant last Friday night in their second round of the playoffs. The Chiefs split with the Braves in the regular season but found a way to win a hotly contested third matchup of the two teams. By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team ended their regular season schedule last week with wins over the Carolina Forest Panthers and South Florence Bruins. The Chiefs raised their record to 21-5 with four consecutive wins in their final four regular season games and set themselves up as a number one seed in the SCHSL playoffs. The Chiefs win over Carolina Forest was especially welcomed by the Chiefs. Recent filings within Horry County reveal that a Walmart Neighborhood Market is in the planning stages for a nearly 20-acre site just outside of Longs and Wampee, roughly one mile east of the Highway 22 interchange. Aktion Club members, adults with intellectual disabilities, transformed oyster shells into colorful keepsakes under the guidance of Kiwanis member Therease Metivier, alongside advisor Lee Gallowe. As of last month, the medical center officially lifted its temporary age related visitation restrictions, which had been in place since early November to combat a surge in respiratory illnesses.
