Groundbreaking ceremony to be held at community center

By Chris Del Corro Almost four years ago, the City of North Myrtle Beach was approached by the local NMB Pickleball Association about building outdoor courts for the rapidly growing sport of pickleball. The city graciously agreed to help and fundraising began. During those years, pickleball began to explode and the Association’s dream and vision became shared by the city. NMB Ladies volleyball runs record to 11-0

By John Smithson The NMB High School Lady Chiefs continued their winning ways last week as they beat Conway and Socastee in region play before dispatching three teams last Saturday in a three-team bout for an 11-0 record so far this season. The Chiefs began their successful week with a home win last Tuesday against Conway. The Chiefs won that one 3-0, (25-12, 25-14, 25-16). Chiefs fall to Loris 53-14

By John Smithson It was supposed to be the Battle of Highway 9. The Chiefs and Loris Lions had met for 54 times before last Friday night. The Lions had won 39 of those previous matchups, and the last three between the teams. The AAA Lions came into the game as the #4 team in the state. Boys volleyball 5-4 after six matches last week

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity boys volleyball team had a very busy week last week with two region games and four matches in the Battle for the Crown tournament in Florence last Saturday. The Chiefs opened the week with a 2-3 loss at Conway last Tuesday. The Chiefs were home last Thursday for another region match against Socastee. The Braves won that one 3-0 (8-25, 16-25, 11-25). By John Smithson Cross Country — The Chiefs boys and girls varsity cross country teams joined teams from eight other schools for a meet September 10th at Grand Park in Market Commons. The boys team finished eighth in their race. St. James was first, Myrtle Beach second and Carolina Forest third. Fenna Hollo led the Lady Chiefs to victory as she took first place in the 5K race.
