Ecotots are building classroom terrariums

By Mary Templeton The Budding Ecotots in Kim Holloway’s kindergarten class prepared not one, but two, gardens on Friday, November 14, 2025. Yaupon Garden Club members gathered to assist the students as they built their classroom terrarium and planted pansies in their Ecotot Garden. Yaupon Garden Club member Mary Templeton reviewed the two previous meetings in September and October before introducing YGC member Graceann Phillips.  She explained that the students would be given a chance to build a terrarium by adding rocks, soil and finally a succulent. Little River Rotary Club 5K is most successful event yet

By Diane Billard The 17th Annual Rotary Club of Little River 5K Run was held on Saturday, November 1, along the historic waterfront district in Little River. While it was a little chilly, it was the perfect running weather. This year, there were over 100 runners.  Overall winners were Craig Wahl from Myrtle Beach in the men’s category with 19:04.78 and Lyra Ice from Conway with 25.06.12 in the women’s category.  There was a great diversity of age groups. Quilt of Valor ceremony held to honor those who served

By William LaMonte On this year’s Veterans Day, River Park Adult Living of Little River honored ten military veteran members of the River Park Assisted Living facility with a Quilt of Valor. The quilts were made by and presented by members of the Myrtle Beach Shorebirds chapter of the Quilts of Valor foundation. The quilts are intended to provide relief and comfort for the receiving veterans. School recognizes veterans with special presentation

North Myrtle Beach and local community veterans were honored on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in a Veterans Day presentation at Holy Trinity Catholic School. The presentation included song, poetry and applauding the veterans in attendance as well as moments of silence for our POW/MIA fallen. The performers, students of Holy Trinity Catholic School from grades K3 to 5th grade, presented patriotic songs honoring all of the armed services. The audience, filled with members from all the military branches, responded with applause as those honored stood when their branch was called. The victory was the 3-2 win over Lucy Beckham at home to claim the 5A Division II Lower State Championship. Football coach resigns

By John Smithson North Myrtle Beach High School head football coach Greg Hill resigned from his position as reported in many local media Monday. Horry County Schools Director of Communications and Community Engagement Lisa Bourcier released a statement Monday. “Coach Hill made the decision to step down due to personal reasons. North Myrtle Beach High School would like to thank Coach Hill for his hard work, leadership, and contributions to the program. Fenna Hollo was All-State after her finish in the state championship cross country race. She also was named the 6AAAAA best runner. Robyn Walsh and Ravyn Walsh were All-Region. It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ernie’s Diner, Sunshine Pancake House located at 3944 Main Street in Loris. The OHCO program has been offering Thanksgiving dinners to the community for the past13 years. Lions head to Newberry for round 3 of playoffs

By Kaye Collins The Loris Lions (12-0) advance in the playoffs after taking down the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins at Heniford Field on Friday, Nov. 14, with a 56-20 win. Despite an impressive performance during the regular season the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins were unable to translate that success into their playoff game as the Lions leaned on a running game and their defensive team.
