Lady Chiefs lacrosse 2-3 in 6AAAAA region

By John Smithson Lady Chiefs lacrosse lost two games last week against Socastee and Carolina Forest to end the week 2-3 in the 6AAAAA region and 6-3 overall this spring. The Chiefs fell behind 6-4 after the first half of their game against Socastee last Monday and Socastee won 12-7. Aryanna Kipybida and Lexi Schmidt each scored twice for the Chiefs. Baseball sweeps Socastee in second region series

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team swept its second region series last week as they took three straight from the Socastee Braves at The Hank. The Braves scored a run in the top of the first inning on three singles against Chiefs pitcher Gabe Priest. The Chiefs got something going in the bottom of the third. Andrew Mundy singled to left. Riley Wiggins sacrifice bunted Mundy to second. Kaden Lank singled to center with Mundy going to third and Lank to second. Peyton Gallup grounded out and Mundy scored the Chiefs first run. Chiefs boys soccer 8-1 after first loss

By John Smithson The NMB boys soccer team had  a 7-0 record last week entering matchups with Carolina Forest and St. James at home. The Chiefs got off to a great start against Carolina Forest last Tuesday with a 2-0 victory. The Chiefs scored twice in the first half and then held on for their win over the Panthers. By John Smithson The Lady Chiefs varsity soccer team went on the road last week for two matches against the heart of their schedule and lost two 2-0 matches to Carolina Forest and St. James. The Chiefs started their week 3-0 in 6AAAAA region play against Carolina Forest which was undefeated in region play. By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach High School boys varsity lacrosse team went 1-1 in two region games last week and lost a non-region game to Laurence Manning Academy. The Chiefs first region game was last Monday at The Hank when they beat the visiting Socastee Braves. The Chiefs got off to a slow start and were outscored 5-2 in the first quarter of play. First reading of land sale is approved

Following a unanimous vote at a recent Loris City Council special meeting, officials approved a first reading on a proposal to sell approximately 5.75 to 5.8 acres of the former Loris High School property to the county. City attorney John Zilinsky explained that the parcel represents “about one-third, or slightly more than one-third, of the total 16.25-acre site,” noting that discussions with the county about a potential purchase have been ongoing for some time.
