Memorial Project seeks community support

Titus Leaks appointed Atlantic Beach interim town manager

By Ruben Lowman In a move that deeply honors the roots of Atlantic Beach, the town council voted unanimously at their most recent meeting to appoint Titus Leaks as interim town manager. Leaks is a third-generation resident whose family legacy is literally etched into the foundation of the community. His grandfather, Leonard Evans, was the bricklayer who built Woods Villas, which is the town’s first motel. Beach Music Festival was rained out

By John Smithson The 9th annual Ocean Drive Beach Music Festival was expected to be a full day of live music from The Commodores, The Band of Oz and Jim Quick & Coastline, dancing, and good vibes, at the parking lot between Main Street and First Avenue South. Instead, concert-goers who arrived at 10 a.m. were greeted by umbrellas, puddles, and a bandstand with instruments covered. There was music provided by The Surf 94.9 radio. Girls softball beats rival team on senior night

By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs softball team celebrated their senior night last Monday at The Hank with a 10-0 win over Myrtle Beach in their final region game of the spring. The Chiefs had one last game on the schedule at Loris last Friday and lost 13-3 to the Lady Lions. Lacrosse loses to Sharks

By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs battled all season long, earned a place in the SCHSL playoffs with their first win ever against Socastee but then lost 17-14 to the Lady Sharks last Tuesday night at St. James. The Chiefs split their season series with the Lady Sharks, winning their first game 11-9 before losing 16-8 on April 13th. The Chiefs raised their record to 21-5 with four consecutive wins in their final four regular season games and set themselves up as a number one seed in the SCHSL playoffs.
