Carmine “Buddy” Nicholas Botti, 89, of Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Portside Assisted Living at Grand Dunes in Myrtle Beach surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 5, 1930, in Bellmore, N.Y., to the late Nicholas Botti and the late Marie Campanella Botti. He served his country with honor, courage and dignity as a MP in the U.S. Army. Mr. Botti retired from Grumman Aerospace as a group leader where he worked on the Lunar Excursion Module contributing to the Race for the Moon Project. He enjoyed crabbing and clamming on the …

A long time Loris resident, Lucille Waine, known to many as Miss Lucille, had plans to celebrate her upcoming marriage to Dr. Bernerd Marsh on Thursday, Feb. 13. She was excited, giddy and happy to announce the cheerful occasion to her friends and family. Tom Cocke, Loris Recreation Director, submitted his resignation on Tuesday. Feb. 11. The city council voted to accept the resignation which is effective on Tuesday, March 24. After nearly two years leading the recreation programs in a positive way and creating Sportourism to generate more revenue to the city of Loris Cocke has accepted a leadership position at the University of Virginia’s Intramural and Recreation Sports Department. Michael A. Lange, 79,  of Longs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on Jan. 31, 1940 in Troy, New York and has been a resident of South Carolina for almost 25 years. He attended the Sacred Heart school system and was a cadet at LaSalle Institute High School where he was a standout baseball and basketball player. Raymond Aubrey McLain Sr., 82 and Joan McLain, 82, both of Highway 144 Loris, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Raymond was born August 2, 1937, in Falls Church, Va., a son of the late Preston Skidmore and Margaret Burgess McLain.  Prior to retirement, he was a senior personnel management specialist for 29 years and eight months with Architect of the United States Capitol.  He was predeceased by a son, Raymond McLain Jr. Joan was born on September 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late George M. Peter Raymond Higgins of Longs, 81, died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on April 5, 1938, in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Mary Smith Higgins. Mr. Higgins served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol A. Smith Higgins; daughter, Gale Higgins; brother, Dick Higgins; sister, Carol Kraft; and grandson, Ryan Pietraszek.
