Joel “Joey” Barry Noble, 62, of High Point, N.C., passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at High Point Regional Hospital. Joey was born on Dec. 16, 1956, in Guilford County to James Basul and LoElla Stroud Noble. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed beach music and loved spending time with friends. He especially enjoyed his walks on the beach at sunset. Joey was preceded in death by his father, James Noble. Sarah Lisa Jolly Dodson, 55, of North Myrtle Beach passed to her eternal home on Feb. 18, 2019, from complications following surgery and an extended illness. She was the wife of Jeffrey Dodson of North Myrtle Beach and the daughter of Mary Mason and Henry Jolly of Gaffney. Sammy P. Livingston, 76, of Little River passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2019. “Soldier, rest! Thy warfare o’er, Sleep the sleep that knows no breaking; Dream of battled fields no more, Days of danger, Nights of waking.” Sam was born in Wampee on Nov. 2, 1942, to Wilbur and Lutie Livingston. He attended Wampee High School. He was drafted in the Army in 1966 and served and fought in Vietnam. He returned home after his four-year duty with a Purple Heart. The South Carolina Conservation Bank has awarded the city of North Myrtle Beach $510,000 for Ingram Dunes. The grant, along with money pledged by the city and citizen contributions, will be used toward the purchase of a historic 9.4 acre site in the heart of the city, known to locals as Ingram Dunes. This is the first award from the South Carolina Conservation Bank in Horry County since 2005. It is a very exciting and monumental time for North Myrtle Beach and all of Horry County. The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach held the 2nd Annual Macaroni Mania Event, benefiting the agency’s building fund, on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. The event featured a macaroni cook-off between area restaurants in which the winner of the cook-off was awarded $500 in cash. In the city council article of the Monday, Feb. 4, meeting, Brandon Harrelson reported to council that the hydrology study has been completed. He stated that he will email each council member with the results of the study and schedule to meet to discuss what direction they will be taking. The Earthworks Planning and Design Consultants in Murrells Inlet were hired to study the city’s water system to help with the drainage and run-off water for the city to make improvements.
