South Carolina DMV is issuing new plate design

By Kaye Collins In 2026, South Carolina will unveil a new standard license plate to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. This plate will showcase a Revolutionary soldier and the phrase ‘Where the Revolutionary War Was Won,’ replacing the current primary option of “While I Breathe, I Hope” alongside the ‘In God We Trust’ plate. The new plate will be available on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2026, and will be issued until 2032 for new registrations or renewals. Rotary Club hosts Christmas party for seniors

By Michael Carlo The Rotary Club of Little River hosted a joyful and heartwarming Senior Christmas Party this season, welcoming 35 seniors through the Horry County Council on Aging for a festive celebration filled with holiday cheer. Rotary members ensured every senior felt special by providing a thoughtful gift for each attendee, along with light refreshments and lively entertainment. The North Myrtle Beach Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee is currently canvassing the community for projects that might be funded by Accommodations Tax monies for FY2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027). City holiday schedule announced

The City of North Myrtle Beach wants to remind residents there will be changes to the sanitation schedule and city hall closures for the holidays. City hall, parks administration and the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center will be closing at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, through Friday, December 26. The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center will be closed on Thursday, December 25. Sanitation routes will resume on Friday, December 26, and will not be picked up on Christmas Day. Surprise Christmas gift from Dad

By James Pease II Susan Langley moved to North Myrtle Beach after her father’s passing in November 2024. Her father, John Langley, served as a firefighter for Fairfax County, Virginia, for many years. On December 16, 1997, he was awarded a fire truck plaque for his 25 years of service. His daughter Susan inherited this plaque after his passing along with other belongings. Recently, Susan and her son built a gingerbread house for the holidays. Lions play Carolina Forest Panthers

Special vendors attend festival

An arts and crafts festival was held at the North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum on Saturday, December 6. About 200 people visited the festival where the vendors were adults with special needs who made the arts and crafts they sold. They were not charged any fees for displaying and selling their wares, so what they charged for the items was their profit. Regina was one of the vendors who made key fobs, earbud cases and jar openers. She sold almost all of her items.
