Stormwater improvement project nearing completion

Horry County officials announced this week that a significant stormwater improvement project in the Longs area has reached the 75 percent completion mark. The $3 million initiative is a targeted effort to harden the local infrastructure against the chronic flooding that has historically plagued this community. St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival date is set

North Myrtle Beach will go green on Saturday, March 14, as the 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival returns to Main Street for a full day of family-friendly fun. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m., followed by the festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one-day, rain-or-shine celebration draws more than 30,000 attendees annually, making it one of the Grand Strand’s most anticipated events. Kiwanis and LRUMC provide no-cost food distribution

The Kiwanis Club of North Myrtle Beach–Little River and Little River United Methodist Church (LRUMC), in partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank, continue making a difference in the fight against food insecurity through their no-cost food distribution program serving Little River and the surrounding communities. Held rain or shine every second and fourth Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or until food runs out, the program is now in its second year and serves approximately 176 families each month—reaching an estimated 6,300 individuals over the past year. Suspension can be lifted or reduced

By Kaye Collins Qualified drivers may apply for reduced or lifted suspensions from Monday, March 9, until Friday, March 13, although fees will be incurred. Cases involving alcohol and drugs are not eligible for this program. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) has announced that it will conduct Driver Suspension Eligibility Week throughout the state letting certain drivers in South Carolina who have suspended licenses qualify to have their penalties removed.
