City honors Mayor Hatley with Gavel Gala

By John Smithson The City of North Myrtle Beach honored Mayor Marilyn Hatley last Thursday evening with a Final Gavel Gala to celebrate her 29 years of service to the city, the final 24 years as mayor. This time the mayor was in city hall to meet and greet her many friends, supporters and government officials and she needed no gavel to start or finish the affair. Chamber to hold free annual Christmas event

The City Thanksgiving schedule is as follows: North Myrtle Beach City Hall and Parks Administration offices will be closed from 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, through Friday, November 28. The Aquatic and Fitness Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 27. Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) invited residents of Loris and surrounding communities to a Community Forum on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. at the Main Street Theatre at 4149 Main Street in Loris. Celebration is held for second phase of NMB Sports Complex

Officer saves child from drowning

On the afternoon of Saturday, September 27, 2025, Sergeant Christopher Bellamy was conducting a routine patrol in the Cherry Grove Beach neighborhood of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., when, by chance, he looked over to the waterway behind a residence on 33rd Avenue North and noticed what appeared to be a golf cart overturned in the waterway. Sergeant Bellamy immediately turned around to investigate the apparent incident and arrived at a residence located at 406 33rd Avenue North.
