Girls Golf — The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs golf team finished in sixth place at the Lower State Championship on Monday. The team also qualified for the state tournament. Storm Williams led the team with an 84 and tied for sixth place overall. The state championship will be held next Monday and Tuesday at the Hackler Golf Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway. Boys Volleyball — The North Myrtle Beach boys volleyball team qualified for the SCHSL playoffs. They played Tuesday evening at Conway High School.

By John Smithson The NMB Chiefs football team finally put together enough offense and defense to win their first 6-5A region game last Friday night at Socastee by a 30-14 score. The Chiefs kicked off to the Braves to start the game and Socastee went three and out. Their punt was returned to the Socastee 41 yard-line. An eight-yard run by Will McNeely and six more yards by Jaden Wilson gave the Chiefs a first down at the Braves 27. Three running plays set up a fourth down at the Socastee 20. By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs volleyball team swept through the region VI 5A regular season with a 10-0 record and another championship as they prepare for a run at a second consecutive state championship. The Chiefs ended their regular season matches last week with wins over St. James and Myrtle Beach to get that 10-0 record. Then they headed south for a weekend of tournament play at the Wando Invitational. Last Tuesday the Chiefs traveled to St. James for their match with the Lady Sharks. By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach varsity boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Newberry, S.C., last Saturday and joined runners from over 100 South Carolina schools competing in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic 5K meet. The Bob Jenkins Classic is held in memory of Bob Jenkins, who was a singular force in the development of cross country in South Carolina. He founded the SC Track and Field Cross Country Association, and the Association holds the meet to honor Jenkins’ contributions to the sport.
