A Prescription Drug Drop Box can be found inside the Loris Police Department to dispose of old or unused medications in a free and anonymous way.

The Loris Spring Market will be held on Main Street on Friday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the State Theater, 4149 Main Street in Loris. An exclusive indoor shopping event taking place in the center of Downtown Loris, this is not your typical vendor market. Offering a boutique-style shopping experience with carefully chosen small vendors, local artists, crafters, jewelry designers, delightful treats and one-of-a-kind items that you won’t find in large retail stores.

Support local venders, explore unique finds and enjoy a day on Main Street filled with positive energy and wonderful company. Join them in shopping small, connecting with the creators and assisting them in revitalizing Downtown Loris. (This is not a chamber event, it is from a member of the Chamber of Commerce).

Horry County Sheriff’s Office Youth Development Pilot Program invites parents, teens and families to join them on Tuesday, March 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carolina Forest Recreation Center at 2254 Carolina Forest Bouldevard in Myrtle Beach. The eight week program aims to educate teens on real-world topics and prepare them for adulthood. The Horry County Sheriff’s Office is leading the first discussion on situational awareness and personal safety.. Additional topics covered are roadside safety and driver responsibilities, teen mental health and suicide prevention, internet safety and teen substance use prevention, workplace readiness, financial literacy, fire safety calling 911 and disaster preparedness.

Men and women softball players are wanted to sign up with the Popular Park Spring Draft League. Games are played on Saturday and Sunday nights with dates and times to be determined. Both males and females are welcome with any skill level. Anyone who wants to play contact Pat Clem at 843-602-7282.

Prescription Drug Drop Boxes are provided as a safe, free and anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired medications, reducing the risk of accidental poisoning or misuse. A Drug Drop Box is located at the Loris Police Department at 3939 Walnut Street partnered with Shoreline Behavioral Health Services and the Horry County Police Department West Precinct at 5527 Highway 9 in Green Sea. Here’s what to know before you go.

Accepted items are prescription pills, capsules, ointments, patches and over-the-counter medications. Items generally NOT accepted are liquids, inhalers, needles/sharps and hydrogen peroxide.

Remove personal information from medication bottles or place medication in a sealed bag before depositing. An alternative is the DEA hosts a National Take Back Day twice a year (spring and fall) at the West Precinct.

Cloey Wright, the proprietor of Cuts by Clo, has recently launched her salon on the upper level of Poppie’s Downtown Sweet Bar, located at 4111 Meeting Street (next to Shorty’s Grill). The salon offers a variety of services including highlighting, foil, all-over color, root touch-ups, haircuts for men, women and children as well as perms, fairy hair (tinsel), shampoo and blowouts with styling among others. Regular specials are available and she has a referral program that allows you to send friends and save on your next visit. The salon is open all day on Tuesdays, with appointments available from Thursday to Saturday. L.W. Paul Living History Farm is organizing a complimentary hands-on workshop focused on indigo dyeing on Friday, March 13, at 1 p.m. Attendees will explore the historical significance of indigo in South Carolina and will have the chance to create and dye their own handkerchiefs.
