A Pilot Program for small businesses was presented at the Loris Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn meeting held at the new chamber headquarters last week.
To launch this new program focused on small business owners, they are looking for committee members to help with this fresh idea of networking. Joshua Franklin presented his proposal with a slide show.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to create a recurring series that puts practical, actionable business knowledge directly in the hands of our chamber members and local entrepreneurs.” Franklin explained. “We’re aiming to pilot our first session within 60 days and we need your help.”
He explained he needs committee members to assist in planning, assisting and facilitating open sessions to assist business owners in many ways.
This program will provide small business owners the ability to share knowledge and receive an accountability network with boot camps and training. “Small business owners often face the challenge of acquiring practical knowledge within limited time,” shared Franklin, “This program will cover topics and answer questions to help small businesses owners share the challenges they face,” he continued, “and we will be adding which topics will require expert help.”
Some of the proposed subject topics include Google Sheets, how to use and understanding finances. Understanding SEO and Maintaining a Google Business Page. Other topics include Facebook business planner, AI (Artificial Intelligence) for small businesses and licenses and permits.
Members and the committee will meet monthly for 60 minute sessions broken into two parts. The first 30 minutes will include presentations, small group discussions on insurance and licensing and insurance. The second unique 30 minutes will cover subjects with experts who will assist each participant to understand how to utilize what was discussed in the first session and how to put it to use.
“These sessions are not lecture series. They are participatory, community-driven and immediately actionable,” he said. “There is no cost associated with these experts and sessions. “
“This positions the chamber as a hands-on business resource while increasing member engagement as well as attracts new members.” He shared.
Please email Franklin at joshmfranklin@gmail.com if you are interested to become a planning committee member to share a topic of interest.
This program will add more networking opportunities with the chamber as well as with other business owners.
