Cheesy event was Saturday

By John Smithson Despite clouds and light rain, the 8th annual Macaroni Mania went on as scheduled last Saturday at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The Mania was held to raise funds for The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. The crowd may have been a little less than previous years due to the weather, but those attending still had the opportunity to taste macaroni and cheese dishes from several restaurants participating in the macaroni cookoff. More than seventy women attended the event held at the Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach. As VOICE enters its second year of advocacy and information sharing, guests learned what Blumenthal offers South Carolinians: protecting families from losing their homes during times of financial hardship; access to healthcare and equal pay for women; and fair homeowner insurance. The Ecotots in Kim Hollaway’s kindergarten class at Ocean Drive Elementary School learned that was the number of presidents that have led the United States of America since its founding 250 years ago. The Ecotot Committee from Yaupon Garden Club enjoyed sharing presidential history with the students during their Ecotot meeting on Friday, February 20, 2026. Chiefs beat Westwood 69-33 in SCHSL playoffs

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs continued their undefeated season last Friday night with a 68-33 victory over Westwood High School in the SCHSL division II 5A playoffs. The Chiefs are seeded number two in the lower state playoffs and met three-seed Berkely on Tuesday night. The winner of that game would meet the winner of the game between number one seed Goose Creek and number 4 Chapin for the lower state championship. Alderson starts 12th season coaching Chiefs baseball

By John Smithson BA Alderson was blowing dirt off his infield grass when I arrived for an interview last Friday afternoon, nothing out of the ordinary for a hands-on veteran coach entering his 12th year as head coach at North Myrtle Beach High School. Alderson stated he had three scrimmages so far this spring but would be doing self-scrimmages until the season began. Chiefs soccer teams play in Nash Tournament

By John Smithson The 33rd annual edition of the Michael Nash Soccer Tournament got underway last Friday evening and the North Myrtle Beach High School varsity teams both won their first matches. The Chiefs boys won 2-1 to move to Saturday play and the Lady Chiefs won their first match 7-1 over Georgetown. The Lady Chiefs lost their second match to Camden on Saturday morning by a 6-2 score. Lady Chiefs players who scored in the Georgetown match included: Madison Thompson-2 goals, Macy Lockard-1 goal, Madison Long-2 goals, Robyn Walsh-1 goal, Raphaella Nunes-1 goal. NMB girls lacrosse coach optimistic for 2026 season

By John Smithson The girls lacrosse players received a few final comments after practice last Thursday and head coach Danielle Lowrimore smiled as she walked toward me standing on the sideline at The Hank. Loris Regional Lions Club has become a charter

By Kaye Collins Loris has officially gathered sufficient members in the Loris Regional Lions Club (LRLC) to achieve official charter status. The North Myrtle Beach Lions Club has sponsored the establishment of the LRLC and has provided guidance to President Sherrie Keen and other officers in leading the group towards success.
