Local volunteers marched from both ends of North Myrtle Beach and met at the Horseshoe carrying the USA, SC, POW and Purple Heart flags down the beach starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4. The march ended with a flag raising ceremony, a prayer and a salute from the shore with modern and vintage aircrafts performing in a 1 p.m. fly over during the American Pride March paying tribute to this great nation.

By Damien Triouleyre Most of the high and ancient Ingram Dunes in the heart of North Myrtle Beach are now safe as a nature preserve. On May 2, the owners and the city signed an agreement for the city to purchase 77 percent of the Dunes for a preserve (7.2 acres out of 9.4 acres). On June 4, the purchase was completed and then announced to the public on June 6. The Ingram family retains ownership of the remaining 2.2 acres. Loris Fire Department along with Loris Police Department hosted the Grand Strand Trauma Services Team in updates to our area Trauma Program and in bleeding control training and equipment. Two dozen responders learned current national trends, refreshed on basic and new bleeding control skills, learned about historical cases to large responses and new program updates. Several LFD and LPD responders are also now trained in delivering bleeding control training to our local civic groups, churches, business and general public.

Samone Spain-Farewell and her mother, Pastor Phyllis Spain wanted to create a program that would give the children who need a place to go during the summer daytime hours.
