Grace Church holds first Chili Cook-Off

On Saturday, January 17, they conducted an Indoor Garage Sale featuring donated items for sale, with proceeds directed towards the church’s missionary funds. Fundraiser needs volunteers

OHCO helps community members in many ways and one of their specialties is having a spaghetti dinner/auction fundraiser at Ernie’s Diner/Sunshine Pancake House to help those in need. Mathis is speaker for club meeting

By Daphne Bass The Loris Garden Club meeting was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The theme was “Starting A New Year” hosted by Karen Carr and Daphne Bass. Karen Carr’s room decorations, including the snowflakes on the room’s Christmas tree, were greatly appreciated by all attendees. The meeting included a dedication to Ruth Ann Jones, who passed away in December and whose many contributions and lovely presence in the Loris Garden Club are greatly missed. Following a mild December, the residents of Loris are now experiencing the full force of Mother Nature’s way of asserting her dominance, so indeed, it is cold outside. Daytime temperatures are manageable, but the low teens and twenties at night contribute to the winter blues. Worley family begins their beautification of Main Street

By James Pease II If you have driven down Main Street recently, you will have noticed that the Duffy Street Restaurant next to Melt Ice Cream Shop is boarded up. The building used to be known as Hardwick’s Cafeteria and opened in 1948 and closed in 1999. The Municipal Election Commission of the City of North Myrtle Beach announces the Special Election for the City of North Myrtle Beach to be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The Special Election will fill the unexpired term for the Crescent Beach Ward, which became vacant following the November 2025 election. This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. Horry County Schools buys Little River property

Horry County Schools has been actively pursuing property for future educational and operational facilities throughout Horry County. This academic year, the Board of Education has approved the acquisition of two properties. The approval from Monday night included a mutually agreed purchase price with the seller of $162,000 per acre, totaling $5,958,360 for 36.78 acres located on Horseshoe Road in Little River. The plans for this property have not yet been established. In August 2025, the Board also authorized the purchase of a 66.7-acre parcel situated off Enoch Road in the upper Conway-lower Aynor region for approximately $1.4 million. The plans …

The North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce ArtVentures, a new quarterly day-trip program designed for adults who want to explore the vibrant world of art and craftsmanship across the Carolinas. Wrestling team beats Conway senior night

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach High School wrestling team beat Conway 47-35 last Wednesday on senior night at the school’s gym. The Chiefs six seniors were introduced and honored prior to the start of individual competition; Conway then took a 6-12 and 11-24 lead before the Chiefs fought back. The Chiefs won two matches to trail 23-24, then were behind 23-29 before tying the score on a pin at 29-29.
