Girls lacrosse team beats Socastee 11-9

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs lacrosse team finished their regular season last Wednesday night with an 11-9 victory over the visiting Socastee Lady Braves at The Hank. The Chiefs led 5-4 at halftime and increased their lead to 11-6 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Lady Braves rallied for three late goals to narrow the Chiefs lead to 11-9 but the Chiefs controlled the final minutes and held on for their first-ever victory over Socastee. Corbin Delamore wins region golf championship

By John Smitson Sophomore Corbin Delamore won the 5A Region 6 individual golf championship yesterday with a 74 score in a playoff. Delamore is the second seeded player on the Chiefs team that came in fourth in the team championship. His score got him into a playoff which he won for the region individual title. The Chiefs team shot a 337 as a foursome. Jacob Smith shot an 88, Braiden Brunson a 90, and Thomas Anderson an 85. The Chiefs were fourth with their 337 score. Trevor will major in engineering and horticulture at the University of South Carolina. Sylvia Wright, candidate for State Superintendent of Schools, was presented with a framed document bearing the autograph of the late Chief Justice Earl Warren. The document was acquired in May 1970 at the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Awards by the Honorable Charles S. Blumenthal who attended the cremony.  It was later passed on to his son, George M.
