By Amanda Player Wofford Over the weekend of November 15–16, six all-star teams from the City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department competed in their respective South Carolina Athletic Programs (SCAP) district tournaments. The competing teams included 10U, 12U and 15U co-ed soccer, as well as 10U, 12U and 14U volleyball. Soccer teams traveled to Sumter, while volleyball teams competed in Johnsonville. In soccer action, the 10U team opened its single-elimination tournament with an impressive 10–0 win before falling 3–0 in the second round. By John Smithson The 2025-26 basketball season got underway last Friday night with two totally different games played at the NMB gym. The Lady Chiefs opened their schedule with a 71-13 blowout of the West Brunswick Lady Trojans, while the Chiefs had to battle back to tie their game at the end of regulation 44-44, and then won it in overtime 53-46. By Diane Billard The 17th Annual Rotary Club of Little River 5K Run was held on Saturday, November 1, along the historic waterfront district in Little River. While it was a little chilly, it was the perfect running weather. This year, there were over 100 runners. Overall winners were Craig Wahl from Myrtle Beach in the men’s category with 19:04.78 and Lyra Ice from Conway with 25.06.12 in the women’s category. There was a great diversity of age groups. The victory was the 3-2 win over Lucy Beckham at home to claim the 5A Division II Lower State Championship. Horry County Schools Director of Communications and Community Engagement Lisa Bourcier released a statement Monday. “Coach Hill made the decision to step down due to personal reasons. North Myrtle Beach High School would like to thank Coach Hill for his hard work, leadership, and contributions to the program. The Chiefs and the Woodmont Wildcats were the top two teams in the final match of the 5A Division II playoffs, and the Wildcats won a hard-fought battle 3-2. The Chiefs overcame a 16-6 deficit at halftime and 23-23 tie at the end of regulation but lost 29-23 in overtime to the Seahawks.
