Barbara Allen Gore, 83, of Longs passed away on Wed nesday, June 12, 2019, at her home. Mrs. Gore was born on Oct. 17, 1935, in Tabor City, N.C., to the late Leo Allen and the late Edna Nealy Allen. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her son, Eddie Kirk Grainger and wife Kathy of Loris; her daughter, Teresa G. North Myrtle Beach’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 walked away from the recently completed VFW Department (state) Convention in Columbia with a very prestegious award. The official title is the James W. Cothran award. This award also makes Post 10804 an “All State Post”. Jason and Kassidy Skjervem have been on staff with Cru in Minot, North Dakota, since 2005. The Loris Library drew a crowd of children on Thursday, June 13, at 12 noon to make buttons for their dads for Father’s Day. Tracy Collins provided patterns or blank circles of paper for the children to use vibrant pencils to make a colorful button. Each child cut out the circle to fit the button, colored it and then Collins helped them to place the circle in the button maker. There were happy faces and smiles during the event.
