The North Myrtle Beach Election Commission met on Thursday, February 26, at 10 a.m. at North Myrtle Beach City Hall to review and certify the results of the Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Special Election. The final certified results for the North Myrtle Beach City Council Crescent Beach Ward seat total number of votes are: Ray Collins – 1,031; Melissa Wober – 1,176; and Write In – 4.

Little River Library renovation to expand space, improve services

A new chapter is underway for the Little River Library. Located within the Ralph Ellis Complex off Highway 57, the branch first opened in 1996 as the Stevens Crossroads Library. Although the name was updated in 2006 to align with the county system, the building itself has remained largely unchanged. “This building was built over 30 years ago and it was a different era. Our library users had different needs. Two crowned at local pageant

By Missy Moore The Miss North Myrtle Beach High School Pageant was held on Saturday, February 28, in the NMBHS auditorium. Ten beautiful contestants competed for two titles during several events leading up to crowning. First, the girls participated in a five minute panel interview where they spoke about their platforms, future plans and other various subjects. After the talent and evening gown categories, two very deserving contestants were crowned and will represent NMBHS for 2026. Volunteer for Tree Board

The City of North Myrtle Beach is accepting applications for an open seat on the North Myrtle Beach Tree Board. The appointment is for a four-year term and will be made by the Mayor and City Council. The Tree Board plays a key role in supporting the city’s urban forestry efforts and maintaining its Tree City USA designation. Board members work with city staff and leadership to enhance the community’s trees, environment and long-term sustainability. City tree of month showcases mistletoe

By Gianna Forbis The March Tree of the Month recognized by the North Myrtle Beach Tree Board is found at 706 Fourteenth Avenue South in front of Trinity United Methodist Church. While we are finishing up winter weather and anticipating spring blooms and new leaves, we see many bare deciduous trees such as oak, elm and maple with mistletoe growing on the branches. Mistletoe is a hemi-parasite because it sends out roots into the tree to draw nutrients and water but also produces energy through photosynthesis in its green leaves. The City of North Myrtle Beach is accepting applications for an open seat on the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). The Board of Zoning Appeals is appointed to four-year terms by the North Myrtle Beach City Mayor and City Council. It is the board’s duty to hear and decide appeals where there is an alleged error in the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, as well as appeals for variances from the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance.
