The Special Election for the City of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., was held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The North Myrtle Beach Municipal Election Commission has released the following unofficial results for the North Myrtle Beach city election. The total number of votes are as follows: Ray Collins – 1,031 Melissa Wober – 1,176 Write In – 4 This election filled the unexpired term for the Crescent Beach Ward seat, which became vacant following the November 2025 General Election. Bailey seeks re-election for SC House

Cheesy event was Saturday

By John Smithson Despite clouds and light rain, the 8th annual Macaroni Mania went on as scheduled last Saturday at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The Mania was held to raise funds for The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. The crowd may have been a little less than previous years due to the weather, but those attending still had the opportunity to taste macaroni and cheese dishes from several restaurants participating in the macaroni cookoff. The Ecotots in Kim Hollaway’s kindergarten class at Ocean Drive Elementary School learned that was the number of presidents that have led the United States of America since its founding 250 years ago. Chiefs beat Westwood 69-33 in SCHSL playoffs

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs continued their undefeated season last Friday night with a 68-33 victory over Westwood High School in the SCHSL division II 5A playoffs. The Chiefs are seeded number two in the lower state playoffs and met three-seed Berkely on Tuesday night. The winner of that game would meet the winner of the game between number one seed Goose Creek and number 4 Chapin for the lower state championship. Alderson starts 12th season coaching Chiefs baseball

By John Smithson BA Alderson was blowing dirt off his infield grass when I arrived for an interview last Friday afternoon, nothing out of the ordinary for a hands-on veteran coach entering his 12th year as head coach at North Myrtle Beach High School. Alderson stated he had three scrimmages so far this spring but would be doing self-scrimmages until the season began. Chiefs soccer teams play in Nash Tournament

By John Smithson The 33rd annual edition of the Michael Nash Soccer Tournament got underway last Friday evening and the North Myrtle Beach High School varsity teams both won their first matches. The Chiefs boys won 2-1 to move to Saturday play and the Lady Chiefs won their first match 7-1 over Georgetown. The Lady Chiefs lost their second match to Camden on Saturday morning by a 6-2 score.
