By Kaye Collins The Horry County Council met on Tuesday, Nov. 18, where they approved the proposal to shorten the hours of operation for the Horry County Recycling and Solid Waste locations. The new hours will take effect in January 2026. With reducing the hours of operation, council approved to include Easter Sunday in their holiday schedule. There are 25 centers located in Horry County that close at 7 p.m. six days a week. This time the mayor was in city hall to meet and greet her many friends, supporters and government officials and she needed no gavel to start or finish the affair. By James Pease II The 41st Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Since 1985, this annual boat parade has been held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The parade will launch from the Little River Inlet at 5 p.m. and travel down the Intracoastal Waterway to Dock Holiday’s Marina around 7 p.m. and can be viewed anywhere on the waterway. Under the coordination of North Myrtle Beach Lions Club President and Little River Rotarian Sandy Boggs, a very successful food collection took place last week. Eleven hundred bags, generously donated by Food Lion, were distributed to residents of Plantation Pines, Pine Needle Estate, Coquina Harbor, Heather Glenn and Colonial Charter communities. A few days later the volunteers combed the neighborhoods for bags of non-perishable food items. The donations were delivered to several local church food banks including: Trinity United Methodist, Little River United Methodist, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic, Living Water Baptist and North Myrtle Beach Vineyard Churches.

Each year the North Myrtle Beach Lions Club participates in a Lions International art competition. This year the contest, which is aimed for middle school students, had as its theme ”Together as One”. The local Lions collaborated with Merideth Craven, the middle school art teacher at North Myrtle Beach Middle School. Lion Nils Regnell collected the students’ submissions and the Lions voted for the winners. Checks were awarded to the three top artists. The first place drawing will move onto district, state, national and international competition.
