By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs football team finished their shortened 2020 regular season with an impressive 34-6 win over the visiting Myrtle Beach Seahawks in their final regular season game at The Hank Hester Sports Complex last Friday evening. Effective on Sunday, Nov. 1, people may now park free in city-owned parking lots in North Myrtle Beach. The pay-to-park kiosks were turned off after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 and will be removed soon. The city’s paid parking season will begin again on March 1, 2021.

Former Maryland resident, John Allen Bennett, 79, of Little River died on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, in Florence.  Due to the pandemic, a private viewing will be held at his request for his wife, children and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so, at his home in Little River. John was born on Sept. 7, 1941, in Lansing, N.C. to Noah and Odell Bennett. Lenore Schiavelli, 72, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, after a brief illness.  She was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Mildred Davis. Born and raised in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y., she graduated with honors from  New York State University at Oneonta, N.Y.  Lenore was retired from her career as municipal clerk of the City of Englewood, N.J. Thomas Boski, 65, of Little River passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, with his wife Paula by his side. Born in Hoboken, N.J., he was the son of the late Victor Boski and Catherine Boski.  He was predeceased by his brother, Michael. Thomas lived in Old Bridge, N.J., for most of his life, working for the Old Bridge DPW for 35 years until retiring in 2010 and moving to Little River.  He had an infectious personality and was kind and considerate to all he met along the way.
