By Kaye Collins The cost of mailing items via the United States Postal Service (USPS) has increased. The Federal Government has once again raised stamp prices. The cost of a Forever stamp rose to 78 cents on Sunday, July 13, 2025. This marks a 5-cent increase from the former price of 73 cents. The hike in price was part of a wider range of rate changes for USPS mailing services. The breakdown of the price changes are Forever Stamp one ounce increased 7.4 percent raising the cost of a single stamp to 78 cents from 73 cents. Metered 1-ounce letters …

By Kaye Collins Horry County Fire and Rescue (HCFR) were called to the 10000 block of West Highway 19 in the Loris area at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, in response to a car accident involving an ejection and entrapment. The Horry County Police Department provided assistance to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Upon their arrival, HCFR evaluated the situation where a vehicle had overturned and collided with a house, resulting in one ejection and one entrapment. By James Pease II From Thursday, July 10, through Sunday, July 13, the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex hosted the “Summer National Championships” on behalf of Top Gun Sports. The “Summer National Championships” consist of 150 youth baseball and softball teams from seven states including Ohio, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Baseball consists of 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U teams. Softball consists of 10U, 12U and 14U teams. All teams play four one hour games that determine their seed number. By John Smithson Kids from ages five to twelve filed in to the NMB Middle School soccer field Tuesday morning for a chance to better their skills during the three day event. The summer camp was sponsored jointly by the city of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department and North Myrtle Beach High School. The high school’s girls varsity soccer coach Kelsey Winkler stated that the camp was being held from 9 am to twelve noon Tuesday through Thursday, with 100 boys and girls between the ages of five and twelve registered. Brooke has been competing in the Miss America Competitions since 2012 and continues to do so.       The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Charleston District and city leaders met last week at city hall to discuss upcoming beach renourishment. Mayor Marilyn Hatley, Councilman Hank Thomas and City Manager Mike Mahaney met with Lt. Col. Robert Nahabedian, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Lt. Col. Andrew Johannes, Commander of the Charleston District. Lt. Col. Robert Nahabedian will become Commander of the Charleston District in July 2023.
