The event is scheduled from 9:30 p.m. through 10 p.m. on July 4, 2023. Juneteenth celebrated as a paid federal holiday

If you went to your mailbox to find it empty on Monday, June 19, it is because there is a new paid federal holiday added to the calendar in June 2022. Government offices and banks were closed to take a paid federal holiday that was recently recognized by the Biden Administration to raise awareness of an important historical moment in United States history of ending slavery. North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club raises Elder Abuse Awareness and raises funds for Project Lifesaver

Thursday, June 15th was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s club petitioned the city to sign a proclamation setting this day aside to bring awareness to the community about our most vulnerable citizens, our elderly. Chief of Police Dana Crowell attended the event and read the proclamation. The woman’s club then hosted an event at Mission BBQ to educate the community about Elder Abuse which can take a-many forms, those identified by the National Center on Elder Abuse include neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, abandonment, emotional or psychological, financial, or material exploitation, and self-neglect. City Council Meeting June 19th, 2023

City council members in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina held their bimonthly city hall meeting on June 19th, 2023. The meeting for the fiscal year 2024 discussed several new topics. The budget for the new year was $174 million. North Myrtle Beach Councilman Fred Conye says the city has done an “Excellent job” not raising taxes while still providing for its residents. Rescue Squad Puts Proceeds Toward Equipment and Gear

     The North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad located at 1002 6th Ave S, North Myrtle Beach is one of the earliest rescue squads in the state, according to its history page. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, meaning services are provided to the public for free. NMB Women’s Club event raises $85,000

April was a big month for the GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club. It hosted its annual “Purses with Purpose Charity Event” at the Marina Inn Grande Dunes. This annual “Girls Night Out for Charity” raises money to give to local charities in the community and that they did this year. A total of 340 ladies and a few brave men were in attendance for the fun-filled evening, which included a delicious buffet dinner and decadent desserts. SUSPECT IS STILL ON THE LOOSE

Anderson Brothers Bank on 71 Cloverleaf Dr in Longs, SC, activated a panic alarm on the morning of June 9th, 2023. Police were dispatched at 8:38 A.M. and arrived on the scene at 8:44 A.M. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities determined a robbery had taken place. The criminals took off with three thousand dollars and have not been reprimanded. No injuries were reported, and it is unclear whether the robbery was armed. There has been no further information or details released on this case yet. Lady Chiefs softball finishes second in host Loris tournament

The Lady Chiefs varsity softball team began their season with the Loris Preseason Tournament last Friday through Monday, with the Chiefs facing host team Loris for the championship on Monday night. Unfortunately the Lady Lions won the championship game 12-2.
