Department of Transportation (NCDOT) released the new dates for two public meetings for the proposed Carolina Bays Parkway (SC 31) Extension project. By Gianna Forbis The North Myrtle Beach Tree Board has designated a Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Cinerea) as the October Tree of the Month. This evergreen, native to Australia, can be found on 14th Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach. Eucalyptus will grow in coastal South Carolina but needs to be protected during prolonged freezing temperatures. The aromatic leaves are a silvery-green, but the bark and leaves can be toxic to people and animals.

Despite a forecast of rain, the threat of a tropical storm and declarations of state of emergency by area municipalities, people still turned out to enjoy some green beer, eat and enjoy music from two separate stages set up on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.
