By James Pease II Susan Langley moved to North Myrtle Beach after her father’s passing in November 2024. Her father, John Langley, served as a firefighter for Fairfax County, Virginia, for many years. On December 16, 1997, he was awarded a fire truck plaque for his 25 years of service. His daughter Susan inherited this plaque after his passing along with other belongings. Recently, Susan and her son built a gingerbread house for the holidays. By John Smithson The NMB Lady Chiefs varsity basketball team continued their undefeated record last Tuesday with a 56-11 win over West Florence at home. The Chiefs got off to a quick lead with two free throws, a steal, layup and plus-one free throw by Maddie Vereen for a 5-0 lead. Meanwhile the Chiefs defense and rare shooting attempts by the Lady Knights enabled the Chiefs to build a 23-0 lead and 23-3 score after the first quarter of play. By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs boys basketball team completed the 2025 portion of their schedule with a win over West Florence and their annual Shootout by the Sea Tournament at home. The Chiefs started last week with a second meeting against West Florence. The Chiefs lost 41-33 at West Florence on December 2nd but played much better last Tuesday night and beat the Knights 66-59. An arts and crafts festival was held at the North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum on Saturday, December 6. About 200 people visited the festival where the vendors were adults with special needs who made the arts and crafts they sold. They were not charged any fees for displaying and selling their wares, so what they charged for the items was their profit. Regina was one of the vendors who made key fobs, earbud cases and jar openers. She sold almost all of her items. The Columbiettes at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church sponsored the fair, and …

Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, C-Battalion units responded to a reported structure fire in the 600 Block of 21st Avenue North in the Cherry Grove section. Engine 2 arrived and found thick black smoke banking down in the living space of a raised beach house. An interior fire attack was initiated that was coordinated with vertical ventilation from the truck crew and primary search by rescue crew. Crews were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire before it could extend further. No injuries were reported and crews continued salvage and overhaul operations until clearing the scene a …

Back in October the Carrie King Foundation coordinator visited their monthly meeting and did a presentation on behalf of Mcleod Health Foundation.
