Post #186 celebrates Veterans Day at the sports complex

North Strand American Legion Post #186 will be hosting the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex at 11 a.m. on November 11. The public is cordially invited to participate in this remembrance of all those men and women who have so selflessly served this great nation over the last 250 years. November beach renourishment update given

The city’s contractor for the upcoming beach renourishment project will begin mobilizing equipment in preparation for construction scheduled to start in December 2025. Offshore equipment mobilization began in early October, followed by land-based equipment mobilization, which started on November 1. Equipment and materials will initially be staged at the 18th Avenue North Street end. Full mobilization will be completed by Saturday, November 29. Construction will commence at the north end of the project area and proceed southward over an estimated 59-day period, spanning December and January. Work is expected to take place continuously, operating 24 hours a day, seven days …

The North Myrtle Beach City Council met in a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, November 3, at 6 p.m. at North Myrtle Beach City Hall. There was one item on the consent agenda: RESOLUTION: To approve the 15th Judicial Circuit Traffic Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement (APPROVED). There were two unfinished business items on the agenda: ORDINANCE/SECOND READING: Amendment to the Gator Hole Planned Development District (PDD) revising Walmart (APPROVED). Ribbon cutting set for phase two of sports complex

By John Smithson After months of construction and anticipation the second phase of the City of North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 14. Mayor Marilyn Hatley and members of city council will be there to cut the ribbon to celebrate the pending completion of the second phase of the sports complex. The Parks Department will have signage on Champions Boulevard on the 14th to direct people to the site of the ribbon cutting. NMB battled Myrtle Beach in 29-23 overtime loss

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs football team traveled to Myrtle Beach last Friday night for their final regular season game of the season. The Chiefs overcame a 16-6 deficit at halftime and 23-23 tie at the end of regulation but lost 29-23 in overtime to the Seahawks. Nico Miller kicked off to the Seahawks to start the game, but Myrtle Beach went three and out and punted to the Chiefs at their 40 yard line. Boys volleyball out of playoffs

The North Myrtle Beach High School boys volleyball team was knocked out of the 5A Division 2 SCHSL playoffs on Monday, October 20. The Chiefs were eliminated when they visited Conway High School for a first-round playoff match. The Chiefs volleyball program has made strides since the program began. This year the team was 12-14 overall and 2-8 in Region 6, a fifth place finish. Conway beat the Chiefs 3-0 (19-25, 18-25, 18-25) to move on in the playoffs.

Lady Chiefs win 6AAAAA lower state championship

By John Smithson The NMB High School Lady Chiefs volleyball team capped off their run to today’s SCHSL state championship game with a 3-1 win over Conway at the high school gym on Monday. The Chiefs and Tigers both brought their fans to cheer on two 6AAAAA region teams in the final match before a trip to Columbia. Conway had won seven matches in a row and had dispatched Myrtle Beach to earn a match with the Chiefs. The Tigers stayed with the Chiefs in the first set, trailing 9-8. Fenna Hollo shines in region XC championship

By John Smithson The Lady Chiefs Fenna Hollo topped all competition in the girls 5K at last Wednesday’s cross country 6AAAAA Region Championships at the NMB Sports Complex. Hollo won the best of the region title as she finished first in her race with a time of 18:24.09, beating the second-place runner by over one minute when she crossed the finish line. She also ran faster than every region male runner except for the top ten finishers in their race. Robyn Walsh finished the girls race in eighth place and her sister Ravyn finished eleventh.
