Girls volleyball loses state championship

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs volleyball team lost in their attempt for a second straight SCHSL volleyball championship last Thursday night at Dreher High School. The Chiefs and the Woodmont Wildcats were the top two teams in the final match of the 5A Division II playoffs, and the Wildcats won a hard-fought battle 3-2. The Chiefs were 35-3 and Woodmont 34-5 as the two teams began warmups last Thursday. Chiefs football takes 38-21 loss to Lucy Beckham

By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs football team finished their regular season with a 3-7 record but still made the 5A Division playoffs with a game last Friday at Lucy Beckham, The Bengals finished their season 6-3 and the number 5 seed in the lower state playoffs and were favorites to move on. Run-off election to be held on Tuesday

A run-off election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the West Precinct at the Public Safety Building and the East Precinct at Loris Elementary School. The Lions (11-0) secured a decisive 59-19 victory at Heniford Field in a match that was effectively decided long before halftime. Garden Club honors veterans with wreaths

By Ruth Ann Jones Members of the Loris Garden Club Wreath Committee gathered last Thursday at the Mishoe- Stoudenmire Building to make two Magnolia wreaths to honor our veterans. Former Garden Club of South Carolina President David Stoudenmire of Loris took one wreath to place in the Veterans Memorial Park in Columbia, S.C., where they honored Veterans with a “Quilts of Valor” presentation. A 100-year old veteran was present to receive his quilt. Through the efforts of former President Stoudenmire and all the Garden Club of South Carolina these brave men and women are honored each year.
